Working at NZ Rugby

New Zealand Rugby – Appointed Board Member

The New Zealand Rugby Union Incorporated (“New Zealand Rugby”) invites applications for the position of Appointed Board Member. The vacancy will be for a three-year term commencing on or about 27 April 2017.

New Zealand Rugby’s purpose is to lead, grow, support and promote New Zealand’s game. The organisation is responsible for the game of rugby in New Zealand and represents the interests of the sport at World Rugby (rugby’s international governing body) and within SANZAAR (our joint venture with the Australian, South African and Argentinian Rugby Unions). New Zealand Rugby has ultimate responsibility for the performance of the All Blacks, Black Ferns and other men’s and women’s national teams and, in partnership with the 26 Provincial Unions, contributes to the health of rugby at all levels of the game. New Zealand Rugby has a turnover in excess of $150 million, with over 80% of that income being generated through the sale of domestic and global sponsorship and broadcasting rights.

The role requires a corporate governance focus, with responsibility for setting the strategic direction for rugby in New Zealand and monitoring the performance of all aspects of the business, while taking into account the interests of all relevant stakeholders. New Zealand Rugby aspires to have a diverse Board, reflective and representative of both New Zealand and its rugby community.

We are seeking a talented and experienced Director or Senior Executive to complement and strengthen the expertise of our Board. The specific skills and experience will be matched to those of the current Board members and the needs of the Board during the term of appointment.

Appointed Board Members must not be, or on appointment must immediately cease to be, a director, office holder, or employee of New Zealand Rugby, any Provincial Union or subsidiaries. Applicants must also be able to confirm that they will act and think independently of any particular stakeholder or stakeholders in rugby in New Zealand, and in the best interests of rugby across all of New Zealand.

All applications should include a CV, confirmation of the matters referred to above, and a covering letter. Applications are to be sent to AppointedBoardApplications@nzrugby.co.nz

Applications close Friday, 24 February 2017 at 5.00pm.
