Working at NZ Rugby

Secondary Schools Rugby Development Officer

Auckland - Central Auckland

  • Fixed term role through to mid-2020
  • Auckland base
  • Competitive package with great benefits
  • An opportunity to work for one of New Zealand’s best workplaces

New Zealand Rugby, one of New Zealand’s leading sporting organisations, is looking for a world class Secondary School Rugby Development Officer to join our winning team and support us in effectively growing all forms and formats of the game in Auckland Secondary Schools.

You will work with a number of Secondary Schools to introduce and support different forms and formats of the game, support and enhance school rugby programmes by creating locally-led delivery systems, and create the links for Secondary School leavers to transition into Club Rugby. You will work with a wide range of young people, however, your focus will be on creating great rugby opportunities for those new to or with limited exposure to the game.

Your success in role will be dependent on your ability to design effective rugby programmes and implement these into schools using your great relationship management, networking and influencing skills. Previous experience having worked with young people and the Secondary School sporting systems is therefore key, as is a passion for increasing participation for our country’s national game.

Additionally, you will hold a relevant tertiary qualification in training, education, or sport capability or similar experience. This role requires regular travel across Auckland including some after-hours work, so a clean full driving licence and a flexible attitude is crucial. The ideal candidate must also obtain a clear Ministry of Justice Criminal Convictions check.

New Zealand Rugby has a diverse and inclusive culture and is certified with the Rainbow Tick.

Applications close Thursday, 14 December at 5.00 p.m.
